I might be that there was no change in the db layout between those versions. -----from a doc Unfortunatelly this is the theory. Some times it works and somethings it doesn't. Here are serval things you should try too if things are failing.
run the updatescripts again update/common/scripts/*
still no luck? Try this...
Install a fresh version with a demo package under a new DB (Plain preferred)
clear all rows from all tables of that new db
dump your old one (without tables, just the raw data)
press it into the db (manual fix the sql erros)
run the updatescripts
change settings and do not try to use your old ones --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
