Installing ez on shared server or "virtual dedicated server"

We're about to install an ez CMS and are trying to decide whether we should use our current shared server on GoDaddy, or whether we should upgrade to a "virtual dedicated server" with GoDaddy ($30/month) or go with a dedicated server on rackspace for $55/month.

Does anyone have any thoughts or advice on this?

Will we run into significantly functionality or speed problems if we install ez on a shared server?

By way of background, our ez is used for text-only news articles. We are in the midst of upgrading from an ez 3.x system that we operated for years on another server (& which now contains 4,000 news articles). Once we've made the upgrade, we will be installing the ez onto the server, and are trying to figure out which type of server we need.

We would really like to be able to keep our costs down (and thus shared or virtual is our definite preference). However, if this will result in speed issues or failed connections, we will go with a dedicated.

Thanks for any feedback on this!

Hi,

I'm currently using a virtual dedicated server at Gandi, and I think it is perfect.
I pay 12€ by month and have sufficient memory and space to run ez.
Moreover, you have ssh acces with root account, so you can do what you want.
