How to keep nice URLs from being too long?

Hi,

I have some news articles being listed on a news page.

The format the links to each article are taking are:

/news/<category>/<title>/<summary>

This results in unnecessary text being used in the URL (in this case, the summary text).

I would prefer them to look like this if possible:

/news/<category>/<title>

Anyone know if this possible?
I've searched high and low and no found the documentation or forum messages to back it up.

Thanks in advance.

;-)

Try editing the Name field at the very top in the class definition of your articles.

Precisely, you must edit "Object name pattern:" just leave <title> or <your_news_name>. You can aslo use URL transator for some of your news If you want.

I tried to post this into the faq, as it is a great little nugget of eZ publish how to information, only to find that even when I'm logged into ez.no I can not post new faq entries.

Could I trouble someone else who can post a new Question / Answer to the FAQ to add this information into the FAQ?

cheers,
