check if payment succeeded in workflow checkout/after

If the payment was successful some action is going to happen. Is there some way i can tell if it succeeded? Does someone know this? Cheers, Bernhard

I think you dont need a workflow.
you can add what you want in checkout.php that verify the status of orders..
