I am having major problems with my site. Every time I try to log in to the site (both front and admin) I get the following error:

<i>Fatal error: eZ Publish did not finish its request
The execution of eZ Publish was abruptly ended, the debug output is present below.</i>

However there is no debug output.

The location of the error on the front of the site is:
/eng/user/login

The location of the error on the admin is:

/ezwebin_site_admin/user/login

I was not doing anything to the kernel and was not modifying any code related to logins.

Can you verify that the web server has write access to the whole var directory? Lack of permissions often generates this kind of error.

I did a recursive CHMOD of the var directory through my FTP client and that did not help. I don't have shell access though so do you think I should ask my web host to do the same from their side? If I do ask, who should I request be made owner of the the files?

It turned out to be an mailinglist extension which was written for Ez 3.3 while my system is Ez 4.0. Once the extension was commented out in site.ini the login system worked agaon.
