Hi,

Could someone tell me what might be the problem whem I cannot edit anything in admin site anymore...
The templates doesn't show right. I tried to debug it, but didn't find anything.

When I create object within any class I see the template right (Text lines, XML Fields etc...), but when editing published object or draft, it doesn't show the items...

Thanks,
Jerry

Hi,

Could someone please try to help me out with this...
After I updated to 3.1 STABLE, I cannot edit anything anymore (published or draft)... This is really important as you know... ;)

I have already tried everything that comes to my mind... But nothing seems to work...

Thanks,
Jerry

Did you clear your cache?

Hi,

Yes I did clear my cache for thousands of time, but this problem still occurs... It started right after I updated from 3.0.2 to 3.1...

Thanks,
Jerry

Have you upgraded the database. There are some new fields/tables in 3.1 compared to 3.0?

It sounds like a problem with the database.

Hi,

Yes I have upgraded the databases from the files in /update/database/mysql/... in eZ folder...

I've also tried to upload the templates and the kernel files again, but now result...

Thanks,
Jerry

Ok, try the 'back-to-basics' approach. If you back up your db and start afresh with a new db (run the setup routine again) does it now work?

Hi,

New install works fine, but it's not an option right now... I cannot start building every class again...
Does this mean that the problem is inside the database? I could post the database skeleton in here, if it could be any help...

Thanks,
Jerry

Have another look at your db. I personally found some of the sql update files misleading but since im a user of svn versions this is largely my own fault.

Im also a mysql user so this might only apply to such users.

There are two update files from 3.0.2 to 3.1:

update/database/mysql/3.1/dbupdate-3.0-2-to-3.1.0-1.sql
update/database/mysql/3.1/dbupdate-3.1.0-1-to-3.1.0-2.sql

The second update contains one extra line of sql. Check to see if you have this and if you don't apply it.

Interesingly, possibly a bug, the file:

update/database/mysql/3.1/dbupdate-3.1.0-2-to-3.1-1.sql

should be empty as it contains the combined sql from the other two files...

btw, do you still have your original db before you upgraded?

hope this helps

I have putted both of the database updates inside, and I tried to compare the to databases, this one that I have now and the one that comes with fresh install... But didn't find anything unusual...

I start to feel that it cannot be a database problem either...

And I have one backup database of the one before updating, put it's no use, 'cause I've already done so many new classes and everything with the 3.1, so I cannot take it as a fallback database...

Jerry

So you are saying that you did have it working in 3.1 before? I thought that it never worked in 3.1.

No the editing hasn't worked in published objects or drafts in 3.1...

hmm... Just discovered something new... If I create a new class now and make a object of it, I CAN edit it, but the classes that were also in the 3.0.2 I cannot edit... This includes ie. folders, user_groups, articles, etc...

And if I edit a "old" class and make object of it, when I try to edit it, I see only the line that I edited to the class...
Example:
- I edit article class by putting the keyword in it
- I create new article and publish it
- I press edit button
- On the edit page I can only see Keyword and Publish and Discard buttons...

This is really confusing... :)

very weird.

sometimes you do need to republish objects but you really shouldn't need to in an upgrade.

can you try these steps?

1. Edit an old class and store without changing.
2. Edit an object of this class and also store without changing.

Does this solve anything for this class/object?

Publishing the class doesn't fully solve the problem... :(
When I published Folder class again, now I can edit new folders that I make, but not the old ones...

And I cannot edit any objects that has been created before, 'cause if I press Publish, they get published as empty objects...

This is really weird...

Jerry

Something has gone badly wrong. I know from personal experience it is possible to smoothly upgrade from 3.0.2 to 3.1. However, i have had to rebuild databases due to mistakes ive made and so on....

You might need to bite the bullet and rebuild your classes and objects. It may take hours but it will be done and may be quicker than waiting for a solution to appear...

good luck

Hi !

I am getting the following error when logged in as Admin and Edit button is clicked for any object.

Error
===
"Module not found"
"The requested module ezpublish-3.1-1 cannot be found"

I am using ezpublish-3.1-1.

Is this due to any Installation or Setup error ?

Thanks,
Srinivas
