Missing sub-items window on contents folder in 3.5.0

I have seen a similar post for 3.5.0beta1, however I have reproduced this error:

There are no sub-items listed in for content. The error message says "The <Folder> class is not configured to contain any sub items." Additionally, there are no users in the users group, the error message says "The <User group> class is not configured to contain any sub items."

This happened when I upgraded a 3.4.1 site to 3.5.0 using the SQL upgrade suggestions in the admin site for 3.5.0.

Has anyone seen this problem?
