'database would not accept the connection' error

Josh Rader	Friday 11 July 2008 10:51:30 am I'm trying to install ez Publish ver 3.3.4 onto a Windows 2003 machine. I have Apache, PHP and MySQL installed. During the ez Publish install, when I get to the part where you connect to the database, I get an error that says "the database would not accept the connection, please review your settings and try again." The database exists in MySQL and the password is correct. The server name is 'localhost' and the 'Mysql' server is running. Any ideas? Thanks.

I hope you are just installing it for upgrade purposes and not to start a new site with :) Which version of MySQL are you using? Could be related: http://ez.no/developer/forum/install_configuration/mysql_errors_in_3_10 It's best that you enable the debug output, so warnings, errors and notices are displayed at the bottom of the page for debugging purposes. See http://ez.no/doc/ez_publish/technical_manual/current/reference/configuration_files/site_ini/debugsettings/debugoutput. Also make sure you turn on PHP's display_errors directive and set error_reporting to E_ALL. Does anyone know why I'm getting this error? Also, there is a 'socket' field that I leave blank when I try to connect to the database. It says '(optional)' next to the socket field, so, obviously, I don't need it, but is there something I can put in there that will help me connect? Remember, we're doing this on a Windows 2003 box (not an option to use Linux, sorry). Thanks. Josh

We're running MySQL 4.1.
