I just tried the new alpha 3 of version 3.4 on a 900MHz 256MB RAM Linux SuSE 8.1 Server (I know, it's older). No changes to the config, I left what the setup wizard did. I selected the corporate site and added all functionality possible.

Anyone else noticed that the admin site is almost double the speed compared to the user site? I am keeping on clicking to get the fully cached views, but the difference in speed is pretty constant.

I ain't gonna give you the password for the admin area, so you can't really see the difference, but trust me, it's there. :)

Anyone else who tried 3.4 alpha 3 experienced this?

Hi,

I have not noticed this. I ran a couple of test with debug on and the admin is about the same speed if anything slightly slower. I get .5 sec load times on our dev box for front end and .8 for admin

Come on, be a sport ;-)

Well, well. Weird.
Is the user site is supposed to look the way it looks? Seems like some style sheets are missing. I selected T10 and there was no change.

Plus, for some reason the icons on the admin site are not shown. I only get the alt text. Damn, I wanna see the icons, now! :)

Must be your setup. I have installed tested this several times now and every time with stylesheets and icons.
Images: Are you using GD or Imagemagick
CSS: have you allowed .css in your modrewrite

I know this is "teaching you to suck eggs" but it works... honest.
