Hi,

I am looking for a german documentation/manual for the admin interface and OnlineEdior for eZ 3.5 and newer. The last thing I found is the 8 step manual from coolscreen which is eZ 3.4.

Is anybody working on a newer version? Would you appreciate it if I am doing a bit of documentation (if it is not done yet)?

Greetings, Marc

Hi! I'm working on this. I have a norwegian usermanual for 3.4.x and a norwegian usermanual for 3.5-3.7. The english and german version will be ready in about one or two weeks.

Where do you got this information from?

Are you gonna write a new german manual?

Yes I'm translating the usermanual I wrote in norwegian since some in this forum wanted an english version..and now a german version.

Btw. does it exist a german usermanual already? If so, where is it? Then I maybe don't have to translate it...?

Best regards.

Hi,

all I know is the entry of Ekkehard Doerre from June 2004

Hi,

yes, this one exists for 3.6 with OE in alpha, too. I made this before I started to work for eZ systems in 2006. I'll discuss this next week internally what to do with this, then I'll post the result here.

It looks ok, but it's just about creating and editing articles, upload pictures etc. Not any docs. on how to administrate eZ publish with setup, sections, user administration, template configuration, rss, pdf, cache, url translator, translations etc.

This is what I'm translating from the norwegian version, so it covers almost everything an administrator/user can do in the admin-interface.

Yes, it is for editors. eZ publish in 8 steps makes them do, everything they need. We make the system, layout, structure, cache, they make the content.

The approach is, make it as easy a possible and give them something to laught. If they can write a text in word or writer, they can make internet pages with eZ.

Yes Ekkehard, the manual is fine for editors, but my aim is also that people and companies who go for eZ publish, that they can do most of the administration by themselves. The point with this Content Management system is to save costs, and therefore a good user-/administrator manual is needed.

I'm now building a site which will contain many different usermanuals: for users, for administrators, for beginners, developers, and many other paperbacks about eZ publish I have written. I've spent a lot of time writing these, so these are unfortunately not free.

I'm also waiting for an answer from eZ Systems, to know if they are interested in that these paperbacks can be a part of the eZ publish documentation, but haven't got any answer yet.

Btw. I've written a master thesis with a study of 4 content management systems (Digimaker, NetEd, Sitecore and eZ publish).

The results from this paper confirms that this kind of documentation is a "must" to have, because many of the questions and answers in this survey shows that both users and administrators find eZ publish difficult to use and administrate compared to the other CMS in the study.

I think that these paperbacks will help to get more out of the daily use and administration of eZ publish. It's important that the users feel the benefits of the daily use and not just use this CMS because their company has decided to use eZ publish. The case here must be that the users use this CMS because it makes their daily work more efficient, easier and that this experience will lead to a more positive attitude against eZ publish..and also that the total result for their company leads to cost saving and a better presentation for visitors (customers and new potential customers) of their site.

Hi Per-Espen,

one of your last comments was

I've spent a lot of time writing these, so these are unfortunately not free.

What exactly do you mean? No free download for the community?

Hi!

The german docs. is soon finished, but it's commercial (not free) therefore I can't post the url at ez.no because of forum-rules.

You just have to google, maybe you'll find the german docs. on .no domain when I have published and indexed this in searchengines. Don't know another way to get the url known..
