When 3.5 Alpha was released, the timeline for the beta was revised to October 20, is this still the case? If not, what is the expected timeframe? 3.5 Alpha Release notice: http://ez.no/community/news/ez_publish_3_5_alpha_release Thanks!

What is the status of the beta? It is now the 21st, and there isn't a beta download, nor is there a version of the beta available via SVN. When can we expect the release? Oddly enough, the one reference to it (on the Front page of the site) titled "eZ publish 3.5 beta 1 release (Skien, October 20th)", points to the alpha release notice, making this all the more confusing.

Reading the svn logs, it appears there will be another alpha2 first. Btw, i miss quite some features that were announced but still not in the trunk. For example the necessary changes for the object cache (see also php bananas talk by Derick), seaarch in in the browse actions, .... Maybe we should backport some more of the new features to 3.4.3 and shift 3.5 a little more in the future. -paul

With all due respect, it would be really helpful in the future, if eZ systems announced delays, instead of leaving us to wonder the day after a release date is missed. While I do not advocate that people base their own project plans off of a product release, some of us do try to budget time to allow for testing beta software. If there isn't a reliable schedule, or at the very least, ample communication, fewer people will be available to test, which in turn is detrimental to eZ publish. Delays happen, they are a part of the development process, but schedules should be developed that account, at least in part, for unexpected delays and the community should be made aware of schedule changes without having to specifically ask.

Balazs and everyone else at eZ systems, I don't mean to come off as doubting that you are working hard. I would be first to testify that all of you are hard workers and that your produce a great product. So, please forgive me if I come across as mean, or unhappy with the product. That is not my intent. At times I grow frustrated at the sporadic communication, when something changes. I feel that the community has the right to expect a notice when a release will miss its target. I'm not asking for a long letter, just a quick note in the forums, or in the News area that says something like "The beta has slipped, we expect to release it on X date". I realize that projects slip (I've had my fair share of missed deadlines), but when they do, it is all the more important to communicate the changes. Again, let me say that I truly appreciate all of your work, it has made my life immeasurably better as a developer. Please, keep up the good work, and as Paul B mentioned above, remember to take some time to enjoy a pizza.
