I read in this article about eZ systems developing a new newsletter module:

http://ez.no/community/contribs/applications/newsletter

Are there any information about this module yet?
When will it be released?

We have a customer now that wants a module like this integrated in theis solution, so I am looking at developing one or wait for this module to be released...

We are still working on this module so we don't know exactly when it is going to be released. I'll check up on it on monday and come back with a more detailed answer. Feel free to bug me if I forget it.

Yep, we are still working on it but we expect a first public version within 14 days. It will be in beta for a while though.

Do you have any information about what will be the features of this module?

Any other than sending a newsletter?
Will it be any statistics?
Possible with different user groups?

We have a customer that wants a solution for this now, where I really need some info now on the new module to inform them what they can expect of this module.

Hi,

On phplist, a feature that's been invaluable :
- if the sending of a newsletter stops in the middle (shit happens), you can rerun it an the contact having already received it won't receive it again.

Do you have a feature like that ?

Xavier, of course. Sending is run as an eZ publish cronjob, and is very failsafe.

Hi!

I've added some code to contribution for a subscription/newsletter module:

http://ez.no/community/contribs/applications/subscription_newsletter_module_list_and_administration_functionality

I guess the module developed now by eZ Systems will be more advanced, but feel free to test it..or use code from these tpl- and php files if you need to add more functionality to your own notification system.

Now I've shared some code for different stuff the last weeks which is developed for and by Oslo University College, and I therefore encourage other companies to do the same. Do you have an interesting feature or application developed in eZ publish, so add it to the contribution ;) Then we can save costs and also get eZ publish more interesting, including reuse of code.

Best regards

I'm having a format problem with this newsletter. While users in:

Outlook Express
Thunderbird
Entourage

see them perfectly

users with
MS Outlook don't. it does not format correctly... the typical mal-formatted HTML email where the "<" ">" signs arrive as "&lt;" "&gt;" an other odd stuff going on with that mail client just making this email unreadable.

Has anybody found same issues and fixes?

Hi now,

on 10 January, Frederik Holljen posted that this would be available in beta in 14 days, but I haven't seen anything further.
What is the current status?

Hello,

I am also really looking forward to the release of this newsletter module.
The features posted here really got me interested.

Especially the features bounce management and the ability to email ezContentObjects.

<b>on Fabricio Guerrero's post:</b>
On a mailing last week i had the same problem.

Are you sending the correct MIME-headers and content-type?

The solution to my problem was using SMTP instead of sendmail.
Sendmail had overridden my custom MIME-headers so MS outlook did not interpret the mail message like it should.
This could be the cause of your problem.

Don't know about an official release date and development status, but the extension seems to be available on the extensions' svn: http://zev.ez.no/svn/extensions/newsletter

Not all the features and integration seem finalized (check the files for view list) but most of them seem implemented. As far as I've tried it comes usable. Didn't manage with bounces however, perhaps you could check if it already meet your needs.

Thanks for your suggestion. But i better wait till the stable release.
I think fault toleration when mailing a large user subscription database is zero.

Can anyone confirm a release date of the stable release of this extension?

Hi,

the newsletter will be released on 15th april as beta.
But it works well already.

We tested it with smtp and sendmail. Outlook renders it perfectly.
Then it only depends a little bit on your templates.

The link to the repository Alexandre posted is very old. So you have been warned :).

Thanks for your patience.
