Shared hosting mode

As a way of making it easier for new users who may be using cheap, shared hosting how about offering a new 'shared hosting' access method. The admin siteaccess would be available at myhost.com/admin, the main language at myhost.com, and other languages at myhost.com/eng etc.

As a matter of interest, would it be possible to implement this in an extension?

Your described method of a multisite setup is available in eZ Publish by default.

I must admit it's a while since I tried this, but the last time I ended up with the siteaccess name inserted into the urls of the default site.

There is a setting to skip siteaccess from url if it is the default one.

If this is multi site setup (not just languages), then you can use host_uri matching in 4.4 and up:
