Users can't join

Several people have complained that they can't 'join' my website, miabrown.com. If I'm lucky, I will see their name under 'Guest Accounts' on the user accounts page and I can finish the process manually. Some say they can't login, even though I can log in as them. I haven't been able to get the registration confirmation working (step by step troubleshooting instructions would be helpful).

Also -- every day 2 or 3 'New User' drafts appear in my 'My Account' administration page -- probably from failed attempts to join. Any assistance solving these problems would be appreciated. I'm using version 3.5.

Hi,
You might want to check how often runcronjobs.php is runnning and make sure there are no error messages etc. It *might* be something to do with that as we had similar issues when trying to publish which could account for what can appear to be weird behaviour. Your user accounts if they go through workflow wont get published (and become useable) until that script processes them (and as admin you probably dont have things going through workflow).

If it dosent fix your problem, its probably worth ruling out anyway.

Thanks for pointing me to runcronjobs.php. Since I was using the rpm version of php 4.10 (which refused to run from the command line), I had to download the tarball for 4.11 and install that and run 'make install-cli' so I could run php from the command line. Now that I've got that working, I ran 'php -C runcronjobs.php' several times (after registering a new user) but the new user hasn't received the registration e-mail. I'd sure like to see what this e-mail looks like! Is there something else I need to do?
