Hi

Question:

Account user A has folder X with article Y within the folder

Account user G has folder K with article L within the folder

Account user A login to ez system and

Account user G login to ez system and

Account user Z login to ez system

Account user A can view folder X with article Y within the folder but folder K with article L within the folder are hidden since they don't belong to Account user A

Account user G can view folder K with article L within the folder but folder X with article Y within the folder are hidden since they don't belong to Account user G

Account user Z can view neither folder X with article Y nor folder K with article L

How do I achieve that specifically with Roles and Policies ?

Any help is appreciated.

Generally substitute what you term "folder" with what eZ terms a "Section"

Setup a content "Section" for each restricted area, what you have termed "folders"

Setup->Sections->New sections X and K

Create your users as outlined, A, G, Z

Create Roles at User accounts->Roles and policies->New Role, name this one AX

Create a first policy for this Role:

  • Module:-content
  • Click "Grant access to one function"
  • Function:-read
  • Click "Grant limited access"
  • Set Function Limitations in columns to - Article - Section X - leave owner and group set to "Any"

Click the OK button, review the AX role to assure it contains the policies desired

Then assign this AX role to user A

  • Click "Roles and policies
  • Click the + icon to the right of the AX Role
  • Browse to select the user A to whom it will apply

Repeat the process for user G accessing section K.

Neither Z, nor anonymous, nor member, nor other users outside of admin will be able to view content in these new sections until you specifically allow access by assigning the AX role to a specific user or group. No users are granted access to create content in these sections either. Add new policies to the AX role if you wish to allow content creation and editing by user A.

Hope this helps.
