I cut/paste an article in Simplified Chinese using Admin interface. After I saved the article, some of the Chinese characters have been changed to ?. I am thinking this is a problem with between Admin interface and Mysql.Do I have to use utf-8 for Admin in order to enter Simplied Chinese content?

I am using eZ 3.4. My MySQL database was created using utf8. The user site charset is utf-8, The Admin site is eng-GB.

There is one article talked about using gbk as charset at both database and eZ. Is this really necessary or just another way to build site in Simplified Chinese.

Any feedbacks are appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for your quick response.

I think I have been following the procedures in the two documents that you refered.

I think my problem is beyond that. My problem is some Simplified Chinese characters are not stored correctly. As I stated in the first posting, I cut/pasted Simplified Chinese content using Admin Interface. After I saved the content, it would come back with some wrong characters even through most of them are correct. So I believe something is not right between my Admin interface and MySql database.

Okay. I am making some progress. The problem I had is not due to MySQL.
From Admin Interface, I select encoding HZ and then paste Chinese into content and save it. When I view it I have to select HZ encoding again, then the simplified chinese will be displayed correctly.
So the problem is in the setting/configuration of eZ. I will post a different message.

Thanks.
