Hi;

I searched documentation and couldnt find detail that i needed. if anyone can help, much appreciated. (i am on 3.2-3 latest release)

I need
1) not logged in viewer: i believe this is anonymous role
2) logged in guest: same as anonymous, but logged in
3) logged in writer: can create content
4) logged in editor: can approve content through workflow

my anonymous role has:
content read Class( Folder , Info page , Link , File , Comment , Article , Image , Forum , Forum message , Product , Product review ) -- this is associated to a single 'anonymous' user

but yet when i go to my main homepage, it requires that my user log in to view content that i added as an administrator. have i done something wrong?

is there any detailed doc on user management and roles? or can anyone help me? is there some doc that explains the different options to restrict a role? are the restrictions incorrect above?

Thanks!!
Manu

Also, i created a new user tester, and a role called basicrole, and basic role had
content * *
yet when i log in with tester (which was added to basicrole), the main screen did not show the content:

I noticed when setting up my roles that users had to have access to user/login/* in order to do anything. I added that to the content/*/* and it seemed to work.

In regards to your anonymous users seeing new content, I can think of two reasons it might not work.
1) Your new content is of a class or section that anonymous users do not have access to. I created a new content class for my site, and I could not view content of that class on the public site until I added a line in the anonymous role to allow for that. Strangely enough, editing the current line in that role did not work, I had to add a new one.

2) The new content is of a type that is not captured by your current navigation "fetch" command. To check this, search for your content and see if it comes up in the results. If it does it is this problem rather than the first one.

Hope that helps...

Mark
