Hello,

Excuse me for my bad english...

I've installed EZ Publish 3.8 (php 4.3.10, apache 1.3, mysql 4.19) and used the charset utf8.
I write some text in French and can use the character é,è,ç... but when I write "à", my browser (and my computer) is blocked during few minutes and the text is cut just before the character.
In the database, the ezxmltext is broken too just before this character...

I don't understand what happens...

Thanks for your help...

Welcome to the eZ community!

Have you configured your database to use UTF-8?

Hello,

thanks for your answer Kristof but my problem isn't solved.

I've installed PHP 4.4.2 and mysql 4.1 and my database is configured to use UTF-8.
The files site.ini.append.php and i18n.ini.append.php is configured correctly too.

Now, I've a new error message and I see in the file "error.log" :

<i>
eZMySQLDB:
Query error: Data too long for column 'data_text' at row 1. Query: UPDATE ezcontentobject_attribute
SET language_id='4', contentclassattribute_id='120',
attribute_original_id='0', sort_key_int='0', sort_key_string='',
data_type_string='ezxmltext',
data_text='<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\"?>\n<section xmlns:image=\"http://ez.no/namespaces/ezpublish3/image/\"\n xmlns:xhtml=\"http://ez.no/namespaces/ezpublish3/xhtml/\"\n xmlns:custom=\"http://ez.no/namespaces/ezpublish3/custom/\">\n <paragraph>essai à la maison</paragraph>\n</section>', data_int='1045487555', data_float='0.000000'

Finally, I've all configured to use latin1 and there is no more problem... but it's not o good solution...
