One child=full in node, the rest as icons?

I know it can be done! But now I'm getting frustrated and might just quit :-(

I want to display all children (they are pictures) of a node in the node - in small versions.

Then when the user clicks on one of them, it would be cool if he stays in the same node, but the picture she has clicked is displayed in a large version. When she clicks another of the small icons, that picture is displayed large - but all in the same node.

That should be possible - I know it is! But I don't know how.

It must be something that involves the "(offset)"-function, is my guess.

I have been working with something where it fetches one child and able the user to click on "next" etc. and by (offset) it stays in the same node.
So that should be a good starting point, eh?
Now, all I want is for it to display ALL the children, in miniature, and make them clickable - instead of the "next"-function.

I will be gratefull for your replies :-)
