Objects stored in the media library can be accessed directly by users of the website, but not using virtual urls (ie. "nice urls") like objects in the content tree can be.
You will need to:
- grant users the permission content/read on section 'media'
- use urls like this: http://my.site/index.php/siteaccess/content/view/full/47 where 47 is the node id Or just upload your files to the content section - using the media library is not mandatory
