Hi

Is it possible to look inside templates on eZ?
Just to see how to code and design templates!
I think that just one peek inside would really help people
to speed up learning curve.

Sinisa.

Hi Sinisa,

you can install eZ publish and create a default webpage of some kind (last part of installation).

Then browse to typical "C:\eZpublish\ezpublish\design\plain\override\templates\full" (where plain is the website name) and have a look at article.tpl.

The template might look "scary" the first times you look at it.

Good luck :)

Hi Trond,

yes I know that but I would like to see templates from eZ Systems.
How they produced forums and other interesting layouts.

I think that look inside will help all of us to learn much faster by example.

Best regards,
Sinisa

If you installed some of the packages like the blog, news, forums (I did all of them when I installed 3.5.0) that come with it, there are plenty of examples.

Sinisa,

First, I agree with you, more than it's worth talking about :|

Still I don't know if and or when this might come to fruition... I've asked for specific templates (documentation/faq) before and they did not reply.

I don't know which license ez.no is licensed under but both licenses provide eZ systems the right to say no to requests for code developed by ez specifically for ez.no.

In the end you'll get a lot further, faster reading, testing, experimenting and learning from all the template contributions, eZ publish core templates (as suggested by Samuel ) plus lots and lots of practice.

<b>Lesson #1</b>
Test lots of different variables with:

{$theend|attribute(show,2)}

This will show you the awesome power of eZ publish template language. There is so much information (hidden from view) just waiting for you to discover it.

I was where you are now, and this is what I chose to do to bridge this gap myself. In the end I had to upgrade myself instead of holding my breath waiting for eZ to release their templates.

oh, and this is my most recent stomping ground for this lost sole's eZ publish information repository, feel free to login and post your ideas / read it.

I hope to contribute to the official ez.no documentation site instead of snippets but I couldn't wait a whole year for it :\. I had to be able to post my ideas, this is what I did in the interim, it is more for me than you but i don't mind if you use it too, i mean...who knew? <i>http://snippets.ezpublishhosting.com/ezpublish_templates</i>

;) So do buddy, So do I ...

Tell ya what, I've been up too long so it's about time for me to make a mistake I'll live to regret.

I'm working on doing a bulk archive of several sites I've been working on. How about if I drop a tar.gz copy of each configured installation on the net. It won't be pretty but at least it's a start in the direction of sharing fully configured eZ publish installations.

My first one will be the current copy of ezpub.co.uk, the second will the xhtml valid rewrite of the ezpub.co.uk site (incomplete, not 100% valid).

Later I'll follow up with a generic version of a few other site's I'm working on now. Depending on my schedule and the communities expressed interest, I will break down these newer sites improvements (classes, templates, components (menu), design) into individual ezpackage(s).

Now this will take me some time to complete these future sites first so patience please until I do. Still, voice your interest to me or I may end up working on other efforts which may be smarter and more beneficial to the community at large (tutorials, documentation, howtos, eZ publish : community edition).

happy hacking,

Hi kracker

That would be really nice if you could drop a tar.gz copy of each configured installation!

Best regards,
