Hiya,

My EZ site intercepts all request to my web area, even if I enter subfolders in directories outside the EZ sitefolder.

In other words, if I enter something like www.website.com/files/ I end up in my EZ site, telling me this area could not be found.

How do I turn "off" EZ in relation to other folders/areas ?

You have to change the mod_rewrite statements to exclude those areas.

Hmm, ok thanks.

But where would I find those rewrites? (in which file?) Would altering them affect my site in undesirable ways ?

Read about virtual host configuration in the docs. Generally, mod_rewrite is configured in apache.conf.

k, basically what I ended up doing was to add two lines to my httpd conf file.

The first one makes an exception in the rewrite, like this:

  RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/FOLDER_NAME.*

where FOLDER_NAME is the folder you want excepted.

The second line would be the alias rule, for diverting the request to the appropriate location, where any old: alias requested_folder new_path
would do the trick.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. For making more advanced rewrites, which I found I require for parts of my site:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_rewrite.html

cheers!
