Classes and Object Name Pattern

Hello,

I was wondering as an admin, you can make new classes. I created some stuff which had to do with downloads of files (like .zip and .pdf etc) and I tried to figure out what you could do with the "Object Name Pattern". I always put in <name>. That works of course. What is however the exact function of this field? Only to display a string of text in the admin/content section. Or can you do other things with it as well?

Thanks, Edwin

This field will create a textual representation of the object. This is needed e.g. to be able to generate a path. You can in this field combine normal text and reference to attribute identifiers. E.g.
"User <first_name>, <last_name>"
Would generate a string which always startes with User followed by the first name and last name for that given user. The values inside <> must be a valid identifier. eZ publish will default to the first identifier.

but it seems it doesnt work with the datatype "Matrix".
If I put in the identifiers from matrix field I can see nothing in admins.
