Hi There,

I would like to install blogs withing my ezPublish website (version 4.2). Is there any article outlining how to install blogs and configure their layout?

thanks

Hi Anita,

What exactly are you looking for, anything specific? If you install the full eZ 4.2.0 there is already features installed to support a blog. Layout can be altered with the "regular" template overrides.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Hi Robin,

I'm trying to achieve something similar to this site: http://www.frefred.fr/blog/ . In summary:

  • a couple of blogs organised in categories / subcategories with
  • menu / categories on the left side
  • a calendar on top to select certain blogs per day
  • the blog entries should include pictures (thumbnails) in form of a little galery (perharps six thumbnails)
  • and the right to comment should be configurable (what surely is given with ezPublish)

I startet with the object blog and blog_post in ez 4.2. Yet the comment option does not work (I bet it is related to the rights?) and the functionality of a calendar is not available. I had only a couple of hours to play around and thought you might know how to start, where to find which extension to help etc.

Many thanks

Anita

Hi Anita,

Sorry for the late reply, I've been occupied with work. About your questions, I'm no expert yet on eZ Publish but as far as I can tell from fredfred.fr they used default eZ features as follows:

Categories: simply add an eZ blog under several nodes. They simply called/named it Categories.

Menu categories: this automatically shows when you setup the nodes, also default in eZ.

Pictures in posts; I'm not sure what you mean by this, if you are looking for something special/specific, but adding some images in a post shouldn't be a problem, can be done with the ezOE editor.

Comments; this is indeed a matter of rights, out of the box this is set so only registered users can post comments. Should be faily simple to adjust in your administrator.

The best way to start exploring your options is with a default eZ install which includes the sample content. This has a blog with all the features available and working. If I haven't answered all of your question, please let me know and I'll try to explain differently and/or in more detail.
