Hi, I am completely new to ezpublish and have been asked to set up a site using it.

I think I have my head around the structure of the data etc for the admin side but I am lost with the templates. I would really appreciate some guidance as this looks like a really good product and one I hope to be able to use for future clients.

I have a site which needs several types of page template. Each has a slightly different look.

The pages types I need are:

Home
Text
News
Events
Form

Each of these 5 types needs a slightly different look so I assume I need 5 page templates.

However, when I look at the example sites that come with the installation there appear to be hundreds of different template files.

If you could give me some simple steps to creating a site with 5 templates to follow I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

A good place to start is the documentation on templates:

http://ez.no/doc/ez_publish/technical_manual/3_8/templates

Also, you'll probably need to pay attention to template overrides as well to use the different templates you'd like to create:

This is from an old documentation but I think it is still valid.

Give it a shot. It will clear a lot of your inquiries.

I found this article pretty useful:
