Using ez3.3 with GD2: Success stories, please ;)

Marco Zinn	Monday 19 January 2004 9:57:28 am Currently, we run ez 3.2 with ImageMagick 5.3.something . We are having problem with scaling some Jpegs. Most of them work well, as well as GIFs etc. Now, when we upgrade to 3.3, I was thinking about using the GD extension of PHP. I'd like to hear, if someone is successfully using this setup (or GD2 with ez3.2) for a "normal" article-based site. I will not need any of the new filters, just scaling (while keeping the aspect ratio) is needed. Grayscale would be nice, but not necessary. The key question is: Should we bother with (upgrading) ImageMagick or can we rely on GD2 (using PHP 4.3.3 at the moment). Marco http://www.hyperroad-design.com
Marco Zinn	Wednesday 21 January 2004 1:23:42 pm Okay, i did a quick install of 3.3-2, Gallery package today. Image scaling of the provided Jpegs and some other Jpegs worked fine with GD 2.0 Also, "grayscaling" works. I had problems with the ezPublish logo (might be some other problem) and with the "border" effect. I guess, GD has no "border" filter. Strangly, i have SOME problems with the "thumbnail" preview, when you edit an image or create a new one, upload a jpg and "save as draft". The thumbnail image just does not appear?! Paul Forsyth	Thursday 22 January 2004 12:57:35 am I've wondered the same thing. Is there a handy list/table showing which ez image system features are supported by GD and ImageMagick? I'd prefer just to compile in GD for most things but would like to know just where the differences are. paul

I am sticking to GD for our installs as it is already rolled into PHP, and I really don't want to mess with Image Magick. But, if there are some important features in IM that are not in GD, I may be swayed to change my opinion.
