On the install when I get to 'Packages' there are none available. I looked in the 'Packages' directory and it's empty. What do I do?

In your site admin console go to Setup
Select Packages from Setup menu.
When you get to packages screen in at the top, there should be Repository selection.
Select "All" click "Change Repository " button.
By now you should see all packages.
Cheers

Peter, I can't get this far. Here's the steps I see
1) Welcome to eZ Publish 4.1.0
2) Outgoing Mail
3) Database initialization
4) Language support
5) Site Package. At this screen I have NO OPTIONS to choose. All I see is Upload package

What am I missing?

Do you have a internet access? Packages are fetched by setup wizard from following URL:
http://packages.ez.no/ezpublish/4.1/4.1.0/

Perhaps connection is blocked by firewall?

Could you submit an enhancement request in the issue tracker?

There is already a 2 year old enhancement request for this in the issue tracker, so no need to report it a second time I guess: http://issues.ez.no/IssueView.php?Id=9845

Sebbane, I see these instructions "It is not recommended to edit this files directly, instead
a file in override should be created for setting the values that is required for your site. Either create a file called settings/override/site.ini.append or
settings/override/site.ini.append.php for more security in non-virtualhost modes (the .php file may already be present and can be used for this purpose)." Can you send me a copy of your .ini file? I'm lost here, do I duplicate the existing "site.ini" and modify it?

I'm behind a very tight government firewall and understand this is an issue, all help will be greatly apprecited.

thanks so far.....suppport has been great!

Although the EZ publisher is attractive, it is scaring a lot of clients from your publisher. Reason, according to my observation, it is unnecessarily difficult to install ez unlike other cms platforms like wordpress, drupal, etc. One step that is just almost impossible to go beyond is the packages upload after the language step. Coincidentally or not, you have given documentations guide for almost all other steps but this. To a customer who wants to utilize your publisher but have a thin wallet, it is irritating that such an easy thing can make you waste a lot of hours. Your ez is really attractive and I want to use it and eventually for my clients but am just disappointed that you kind of block newbies with information barrier, for a premium dime? I don't say that this is bad or evil but, a tool should be easy to use, accessible to many if you want many to use it and in that way you are also forming strong tribe. I download packages from the given link. But, as usual, you give a link but you don't tell the user how to, where to upload the downloaded material, if using ftp, where shall packages be uploaded to, the root or the /var or make a new dir? I am sure you can do better! Let people instal the thing easily and maybe they will spread your platform just as we spread wordpress. Thank you for any help on how to, where to upload the site packages.

Hi Saidimu,

If you check the upgrading instructions, for example: http://ez.no/doc/extensions/website_interface/website_interface_1_6_upgrade, you see how you can still install packages after installation. Can you cehck if that works for you?
