Suddenly I'm missing the menu for the User section in the admin interface. When selecting the User tab I see the list of usergroups but the Content tab is selected sand displays the leftmenu of the Content.

I've configured multisites with diferent layouts and databases. I always use the same admin layout and for the adminsection I only change the database. The user menu dissapeared after clearing the cache. I did delete most of the sections from the demodata.

What did I do wrong?

A similar thing happened to me when migrating a 2.2 site yesterday with the upgrade scripts.

The trouble was the "users" section assignment and navigation part it was married to which somehow got messed up (among other things).

To solve this:

1) take a look what section your users are assigned to (for me it's section 2, yours may be different since I started from a virgin 3.1 install): Just pretend that you are going to assign a section to a node tree, but don't do it.

2) Click the "users" to change navigation in the upper right of the admin page. Note the section number. Don't assign anything, but skip to the next step:

3) Go to setup-> sections
Edit the section which is assigned to your users obtained in step 2: change the navigation part back to "users" and press "Store"

4) Clear all your caches from setup -> cache

5) Visit the users tab and look at the left menu part, you should be smiling again.
