kernel 50 error - what to do?

Don van Hal	Wednesday 21 July 2004 3:56:49 pm Hi just tried installing ezPublish 3x in a row, but I keep on getting the "kernel (50) no database connection could be made, the system might not behave properly" message. Went through the forum messages, but couldn't figure out how to solve it. - system is Linux - chmod all mentioned directories with FlashFXP (indicated option all subfolders and files so should be -R) - system is running on safe mode, so skipped finetuning step 2 + 3 - put in data for database etc - changed .htaccess_root to .htaccess. - finished the installation succesfully. But then got the error message. Putting the database username and password in the site.ini file did not work. What can I do? Don

Don van Hal	Thursday 22 July 2004 1:02:03 pm Thanks for the tip, but it didn't work. I used 2 FTP programs to check whether the subdirs were 777. And they were. Other ideas?

Don van Hal	Monday 26 July 2004 12:21:06 pm A little more info: during installation the file site.ini.append is not written to the relevant subdirs (settings/override and /settings/siteaccess/plain and ../plain_admin.). So none of the database access info and other info is stored and thus cannot be read when the site starts. If I add a file site.ini.append.php with database info to settings/override it doesn't give the kernel (50) error anymore. But it gives lots of kernel (3) object not found issues. Is there anyway to ensure the installation process WILL write all info to the right ini.append files (dirs are all 777)
