Hello,

Does anyone know how to make image conversion work with ez Publish 3 RC2?

I have configured both GD2 and ImageMagick on my Win2000 computer, running Apache 1.3.24 and Php4.3.0. But nothing seems to work.

When trying to upload an image, it gets stored OK in the var\storage\original\image directory with a name like php1C.tmp.
But I understand that another instance om the image shall be stored in var\storage\reference\image. However nothing shows up there.
And the small icon of the image, which shall be stored under var\storage\variations\image\p\h\p is just as empty.

Does anyone know what´s going on?

Any help appreciated!

Regards,

What's going on here is simply a bug in ezp. I patched this bug and reported the patch to the devs. However, the patch is not yet included in rc2. So in order to make your images show up, you have two kinds of choice:

Alternative 1 (Workaround): Rename you image-magick "convert.exe" to "imageconvert.exe". Then edit your environment settings on your WIN2000-box and append the path to your new "imageconvert.exe" to the $PATH environment variable in WIN2K. DO NOT USE THE ORIGINAL FILENAME "convert.exe", since another executable with this name is already there in WIN2K. Finally you have to edit the image.ini in ezp-rc2 (do no longer use rc1 !!) and rename the convert-executable there from "convert" to "imageconvert". You do not need to enter a convert-path in this context, since you already told your WIN2K where to find the imageconvert in the $PATH-environment.

Alternative 2 (recommended): If you like to deploy your ezp on a webserver some day, where you possibly do not have administrator access to alter the $PATH-environment variable for the operating system, follow this link:
http://developer.ez.no/forum/message/14038/
and download my patched version of the ezp-image conversion-handler.
As already mentioned in alternative 1, rename your "convert.exe" to "imageconvert.exe". Since you do not tell your OS where to find the imageconvert.exe, you have to open the image.ini in ezp and enter the path to your imageconvert-exe there. BUT BEWARE NOT TO use a SINGLE backslash at the end of the path, since backslash is an escape character. The first of the following two examples shows correct settings for your image.ini on MS-Windows.

Correct (no ending backslash in the ConvertPath):
___
[ShellSettings]
ConvertPath=C:\Programs\web\ImageMagick-win2k
ConvertExecutable=imageconvert

This one's the thing you should avoid (will crash your ini-parser):
___
[ShellSettings]
ConvertPath=C:\Programs\web\ImageMagick-win2k\
ConvertExecutable=imageconvert

I'm working with ezp3-rc2 on WIN2K, too. It really performs fine. Good luck.

Hi Volker,

That link to http://developer.ez.no/forum/message/14038/ no longer works so are we able to get your bug fix from somewhere else?

Thanks for your help,

Skye :)
