Well, after trying to install on my server for days, I have to give up and try some othe CMS that is more reliable and easier to install.
The interface for installation is a very good idea, pity it didn't work for me. It just doesn't result in access to the site, even though it says is finished, but then comes up with a log 50 error (whatever that is) and says that it can't access the database. After spending hours and hours on it I am inclined to say that I had vastly better experiences with other CMSs which are much smaller in size and friendlier to handle for a newby like me. i am afraid that I can't recommend ezpublish to other users after it took so much of my time. But I hope the rest of you are having fun, let me know when you've improved the installation process for it and I may give it another try then

Well a post like yours doesn't really help either. Blaming it on ez publish is the easy part. To tackle the harder part which is your problem with setting ez publish up, you'll have to state what you've tried, what your server config/setup is, what the ez debug output is etc. Have you checked the site.ini.append in the /settings/siteaccess/yoursiteaccess/ to see if the database settings are correct?

> othe CMS that is more reliable and easier to install. other CMS's <b>might</b> be easier to install, but I doubt they'll be as reliable as eZ. I had to use several attempts to install eZ publish myself. And that was not because eZ was crappy but because I made some rather heavy user errors. So I'd give it another shot if I were you, and make sure you <b>understand</b> and follow the installation manual.

Well, Daniel, you certainly don't like to givce things too much time and energy, do you? A couple of hours won't be enough I guess, if it comes to creating a useful site for your clients. As a designer who got involved into web development a year ago, I first settled for the Adobe method of creating nice graphics. As clients kept asking for more useful solutions, we delved into PHP via GoLive's dynamic content modules. Now that Adobe removed this functionality, we had to look for CMS's that answered to our client's expectations. I really searched the whole PHP/CMS community so far, but the Xoops and PostNuke solutions (however nice in itself) couldn't bring us the functionality they asked for! As a studio, we need a framework of ready-to-use routines that make up a standard site for our customers. The existing CMS's are apparently focused on leisure users like fanclubs, correct me if I'm wrong. Although we are only in the initial stage of creating sites with eZ publish, we strongly feel that this is the direction we need to follow. And yes, it's difficult. But it's free! I really can't believe that the Norwegian developers gave this sturdy, robust application to the world for nothing. Can you tell me if there is another applications that provides the same functionality and flexibility, yet is easy to use? I like to hear it! The only drawback so far - and this is from a novice - is its size. eZ publish is just too big and too slow I guess. But we'll see about that. Jeroen van Heemskerck Düker, The Netherlands

Hi, Almost always power comes at a price EZP 3 is far more powerfull than EZP 2, but on the contrary is slower yet, We know EZ Crew is working on improving the EZP 3 performance Nevertheless if you manage the cache properly, you can achieve a good performance In our experience, EZP3 needs more RAM memory to do well, and PHP ( probably ) will take more than the 8 MB default setup Regarding the CMS market, we have researched few months ago, and today we think that EZP 3 is probably one of the 3 best open source CMS out there (enterprise class), and it is probably the best on LAMP tecnology!
