I haven't tested ezp 4.1 on Solaris, but it should be stable, http://ez.no/company/news/ez_publish_4_1_adds_native_support_for_sun_solaris_10_and_oracle_database. Why Solaris is a good choice for eZ Publish is more related with the os itself. Solaris has some great features like:
- ZFS file system
- DTrace
- Solaris Containers
- great scalability & performance
- over 15 years of development? - open source and corporate version/support In my opinion the best of Solaris is the ZFS file system and that the OS has excellent performance results in x64 environments. Also Mysql is now part of Sun and perhaps Solaris/MySQL environments could be the best choice in the future... Another good point is that the founder of Debian works in Sun (even if he is not working in community related tasks now) Anyway ezpublish works great with other unix/linux distributions so you really have to select the best choice based in performance, knowledge, support needs, etc Off topic?: For the future, interesting is this new project that combines opensolaris kernel with Debian: http://www.nexenta.org/os
