Disaster recovery

Last week we had a server disaster and have had to rebuild the system

From the backups I have the complete folders from the exp installation.

How do i graft these on to a fresh install. I seem to be having particular problems with the DB.

Is there a method to this?

Please help!

From what I can tell the problem seems to be the ibdata1 file.

I guess this contains all the data as in, my recovered directory, its over 64mb but only 18 mb in the fresh install.

I've tried to simply copying the file across but this just stop mysql from restarting.

Does anybody know how to recover this,

Well, I managed to get this sorted in the end so, as nobody seem to know the answer, I thought I would post it here in case folk need it in future.

1. Clean install of MySQL
2. Stop the service
3. Copy the data you have from your rescued data directory (you need innodb1)

You will now find that the service will no start, if it does you will be able to see the tables but not access the data.

You need to run the following command

mysqld --innodb_log_file_size=xxxxxxx --innodb_force_recovery=4

The log file size needs to be correct. Check the error logs if you do not know the size, it will tell you from previous attempts to restart the service.

Now the data is restored and you can access it you can do a mysql dump.

Now you have the dump you can restore it to your ezp db.

No Trees were Harmed in the Making of this Datacenter

It goes without saying that our datacenter is virtually paperless in operation and, whenever possible, communications happen electronically rather than via paper-based mail or fax systems.

Our Atlanta datacenter is made almost completely of concrete, even the floor tiles, and almost nothing burns. Very little wood of any kind has been used in the facility. GNAX uses water based sprinkler systems and fire extinguishers that do no harm to human beings or the surrounding environment.
