Converting from a Plain Site to a Website Interface

My clients are having problems entering work through the admin interface and I would like to convert to an easier interface (Website interface) for them. However I don't want to destroy the database nor the look and feel of the site. I would be grateful if anyone can tell me the best way forward on this matter. Thanks in advance. Dave Foston
