hallo from Hellas,

I am new to ez I have my personal domain www.kastritseas.gr
I have set a database I have granted full permissions to the intallation dir and when I try to continue the installation
(http://www.kastritseas.gr/ezpublish-3.8.3/index.php )
it gives me "502 bad gateway Bad Gateway
Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server."

I contacted the server administrator and he told me to try contact ez.

Hello George

Check the log files of both the proxy server and the web server, they might tell you more about what caused the http 502 error.

I see you're using Microsoft IIS 6.0. I have no experience with eZ publish on that webserver and it's not a common setup, so I recommend you to use Apache instead.

Hallo,

I live in Greece
While searching I found you managed to install ez on windows server.

I have my domain www.kastritseas.gr and I installed ez ttp://www.kastritseas.gr/ezpublish-3.8.3/
But when I click on next it gives me a 502 error bad gateway.
Have you any time to look into it?

Sehr vielen dank

Georgios Kastritseas"

So if there is a way why not share it with others for free when it comes for installation issues.
Somebody said " you can fool people, but you cant fool them for all the time"
I prefer to wait for free assistance than pay xx euro per hour!

Hi George

I am not exactly sure why you expect people to help you for free. Yes we do our best on the forum, but this is in our free time and unless you are one of my best friends or family you don't have any claim on my free time at all.

Apart from that - what do you expect we can do with the information you have given us? You don't tell us anything about your server, php version, when exactly the error occurs, whether other php scripts work on this server ... So you expect us to to solve your problems without having tried to determine the cause of the problem yourself. Or if you have done something you expect us to read your mind and know about it.

If you show that you put in some work yourself, people here will try to help you. Whether we can solve your problem is unfortunately not clear as the IIS is not very commonly used and not well documented so there are not many people that are experts for this server. So your best bet might actually be to reduce the possible reasons for this problem (PHP version, file permissions, headers sent by this server...) as much as you can so Bjoern and his company can solve this problem quickly.

Is it polite to publish ones private mail? Guess not...

For your information...
There will be an article some time in the future on IIS.

If you want a draft of this plz write me an email.

hi claudia

I am willing to pay when there is a reason to and I dont expect anything from anyone unless he or she claims that they do so.. I found a post in ez forum where mr. Dieding said he has found the way to install ez on II6 and I wrote him an email asking if he could give a hint with the installation, in return ha asked xx euro per hour for something that other forum members gave their opinions multiple times free.

What more information? I write above it is II6 windows server that I have granted permissions and after contacting my provider he told me to get more info from ez because they ( the provider ) dont find the error cause. I am an individual just bought a domain and found ez, I dont have any php or technical knowledge.
As far as I understand so far can I express myself. I write that when I try to continue the installation [( that means that the installation has began in a way - I also provide the link (http://www.kastritseas.gr/ezpublish-3.8.3/index.php ) ] the error shows up although the installation wizard has appeard.
So please dont be so bold at me, sometimes we have to read between the lines and we must give people a change and have patience especially when they know less and ask for a helping hand.

So I believe that I worked on it and continue to. My first post is on the 6.8.06 and that after I have for weeks searched the forum and contacted my provider before sending a post, so again you cant claim that I have not put work in it. Finally I felt that I should post what occurred to me with the fee about installation help, because I felt stupid and maybe that way other newbies will be protected to.

P.S. in Romania developers work for 10$ an hour ( I have contacted many people companies outside the forum to find help, because I am willing to pay and found that in Romania developers work for 10$ an hour.

"Our rate is 10USD$/hour.
Send us the details.

Hello George

I have some small remarks.

xxeuro per hour for something that other forum members gave their opinions multiple times free

But you weren't able to solve the problem by using the free advice, were you?

I am an individual just bought a domain and found ez, I don't have any php or technical knowledge.

It's kinda hard to get a technical problem like this fixed if you do not have any technical knowledge. No offence :-)
It just would be easier talking with the server admin, or having full access to the server.

in Romania developers work for 10$ an hour

Do they have any knowledge of eZ publish (then I presume it's a setup problem specific to eZ / PHP on IIS, which is a non-standard setup)? Maybe it could take longer than 8 hours for them to fix the problem, while an experienced eZ developer like Bjorn could solve it in one hour.

I'm just presuming a lot of stuff, I don't say this is the one and only truth.

I really hope you can get the problem solved. Good luck!
