Hi,

I have ez Publish 3.9 running on windows, with the following environment:
- Apache 1.3
- MySQL 4.1
- php 4.4.7.7

I want to install ez Publish 4 on the same machine and maintain ezPublish old version.

Is it possible to to have both versions running on the same environment, but with a different version of php (because ez Publish 4 doesn't support php 4)?

Hello,

You can install apache+PHP5 and configure it on non-standard port (standard port is 80 which probably is used by existing apache+php4).

Thanks a lot for your answer Ivo.

But is it possible to have two php versions and mysql version coexisting with the same Apache installation? I wanted to do that to avoid installing unnecessary things on the computer.

That would be rather difficult, to have 1 apache with 2 different versions of PHP, maybe with some heavy hack. I don't recommend that.

As for mysql you can use one server and ahve 2 databases on it of course.

The easiest way to have 2 different versions of php loaded into the same Apache server is probably to have one loaded as mod_php and the pther one as cgi. Of course the performances of the cgi version will be much worse, so you could try to set it up as fcgi instead. More details can be found at http://gggeek.altervista.org/2007/07/21/running-multiple-php-versions-on-a-single-apache-install/

If all you want is to avoid installing a different version of Apache, you can also run another instance of the server, on a different port, using the same binaries but with a different set of Apache configuration files.

Ivo and Gaetano, thanks a lot for you help.

The article Gaetano suggested me to read is excellent and perfectly in accordance for what I need.

I will load php 4 as cgi and php 5 as mod_php.
