Hi

At the moment there are 3 versions of ez Publish 3.2, 3.3, 3.4. I know that 3.4 is in alpha at the moment but at what stage are 3.2 & 3.3 considered by eZ Systems? Are they both at production level?

This leads me into my next question. What is the life span of a version? i.e. When will bug fixes and patches stop being generated for a particular version. Once 3.4 is released will bug fixes cease for version 3.2?

Thanks
Bruce

Hi,

To my knowledge version 3.3 is the current EZP Release (production stable), version 3.3 is at 3.3-3 sub version, on the other hand EZP still supports 3.2-x, and 2.2-x versions

3.4 will be the next (future) release still in alfa

In general you can upgrade your installation from 3.x-y to 3.w-z at any time, it means that you can download the EZP 3.3-3 now, and you can theorerically upgrade it to 3.4-x when the time comes, i.e : new funtionalities, bug fixing, etc

Lazaro Ferreira is quite correct. 3.3 is the version we're recommending for production use, but we're still maintaining 3.2. Once the 3.4 is released we'll probably only patch 3.2 with security updates we consider important.

The development cycle for each release is about 6 months, and each release will be maintained for about a year after it's first release.

Please note that upgrading from 3.a-b to 3.z-y will always be possible, and we'll always provide scripts/database updates to do this.
