I have a page which uses the standard front-page class.

I deleted a page that was linked to it. It was a child to this frontpage.

I then went to the front page to edit the original link, to that it goes to a new page at a different node.

I added the link to the new node, but when I go to save it I get this response at the top bar of my site admin gui:
The draft was only partially stored. Center column: " Node 189 does not exist
- 189 was the node of the original page that I deleted....

I have cleared my cache. I can now do nothing with this page as it cant be saved.

Is there a rule that says you cant delete siblings without deleting the link in the parent page first ?

Ok, here's what you have done wrong. There was obviously another instance of that "missing node" in the page. Not surprising considering the amount of links on it. Delete all of the links if you cant find it and start again.
Consider yourself chastised.
