Have a look at www.visionwt.com
I'm hosted there for some projects, they know what eZ publish is!
Good and stable VPS or dedicated host are available at www.bytemark.co.uk
This is not ads, I'm just happy customer of these 2 companies.

Regarding siteground: You'll find everything to get eZ Publish running in the ez-forums. Just use the search feature.

The average total script running time for eZ publish on siteground is about 0,3-0,7 secs, which isn't that bad.

Siteground has PHP 4.3.11 with which you can run eZ Publish 3.6.5. You just have to make sure that
1.) eZ Publish is installed by one of their technicians. That way, you can always Siteground if problems occur.
2.) they upgrade you for free to a server with PHP5 when eZ Publish 4.0 comes out.

On the other hand: Every hosting account that is advertised of beeing capable to run Typo3 should be able to run eZ Publish smoothly. Just check for
-Support of RewriteRules
-installed PHP-Accelerator
-PHP-Version/MySQL-Support
-ImageGD-/ImageMagick-Support
-CRON-Job-Support

I just opened an account at siteground last night. They are installing 3.6.5 for me on one of their servers at this very moment. It is a very well done site. Good, responsive support team. Be sure to send in a trouble ticket when you first start up telling them that you want to install eZp and that they will need to move you to a server that is compatible (their default servers are PHP 5, but they run servers running PHP 4). I found them after being unable to successfully install at the host that I normally use.

Hi ...

I found vps for $6.95 !!!
http://www.westhost.com/package-compare.html

I think i`ll order "Starter" package ...

But ... if the templates of ezp 3.7 works fine with version 3.6.5 ... then i`ll take from siteground ..

one site finished ... and the next one almost also finished why to wait for ezp 4 !

hi. i'm working with ezpublish at site5.com. i'm really pleased with site5.com. The service is really good, and the people from the staff are very quickly when i ask to customer service. Also the prize is cheap. (Really cheap if you compare it with spanish hosting sites...).
the problem with ezPublish on site5.com is that php is not running as a module. It runs as cgi.
But they have php 4.4.1 and mysql4.1.4, so i'm working with ezpublish 3.7.2 and all is well by the moment.

Also, if you want you can "play" with php5. They allow it from several days ago. I don't know many other hosting sites doing this. They also have ruby on rails, by the way...

@Selmah: Be advised that those cheap VPS often are slower than a shared hosting account (I've had once a 5¤-vServer that usually had a load average of 8 to 27). For about 15-20 bucks you can get a VPS that has enough power to run a eZ Publish site smoothly.

@Selmah: And btw. that VPS is overpriced: There are provider that offer a 5GB vServer with 30GB traffic for 5¤/Month (no setup fee). And the VPS "deluxe" costs more as the cheapest root-server that I know.

Carlos,

the problem with ezPublish on site5.com is that php is not running as a module. It runs as cgi.

At site5.com you get URLs like www.yoursite.com/index.php?/page/ OR www.yoursite.com/index.php/page/ (without the ?)
The serach function of ezPublish works ?

Im using page-zone.com but I need something better to run ezPublish.

Thanks for your comments

axel, for the first question, i cannot get urls without the '?'. If anyone can tell me how to do it, please tell me :).

Second question. By default, search doesn´t work. But i opened a topic in the formus some weeks ago, and Lukasz asnwered it. The solution is to change the method from the search form. By default it comes as get. Changing it to 'post' the search module works as expected.

Put this code in the .htaccess file and you should get URLs without "index.php" and "?". Be sure to configure eZ-Publish to generate the right URLs.

DirectoryIndex index.php

<FilesMatch "(index\.php|\.(gif|html|css|jpe?g|png|ico|js|asf|avi|wmv|swf|xsl|jar|pdf|doc))$">
order allow,deny
allow from all
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks Includes ExecCGI
</FilesMatch>

RewriteEngine on

RewriteRule !^index\.php.* - [C]
RewriteRule !^webdav\.php.* - [C]
RewriteRule !\.(gif|jpe?g|png|css|js|html)|var(.+)storage.pdf(.+)\.pdf?$ - [C]
RewriteRule (.*) /index.php?/$1 [L]

I haven't implemented GET-parameter-translation yet.

Ohh ...
Sebastian

There is no kind of any php accelerator at all also !

Sebastian Picklum

Monday 06 February 2006 2:26:23 am

About the search: I'm working on a RewriteRule that does support GET-Parameters. But at the moment, I'm having exams at my University, so it could take a while before I have a working solution.

About the accelerator: Yes, no accelerator at all. But the Servers are performing quite well. 0,3sec for shared hosting w/o php bytecode compiler cache isn't that bad.

Okay, here is the RewriteRule that enables the search-feature:

RewriteEngine on

RewriteRule !^index\.php.* - [C]
RewriteRule !^webdav\.php.* - [C]

RewriteRule !\.(gif|jpe?g|png|css|js|html)|var(.+)storage.pdf(.+)\.pdf?$ - [C]
RewriteRule (.*) /index.php?/$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
