It might be a sour win. The problem is that all EU nations now have differnt rules and levels to what they accept patents on.

That is not good.

That said, I'm basically against patents on code. Code is anyway covered by copyright and copyrights lasts much longer. 50 (or is it 75?) years after the owners death actually.
