Hi eZ!

I've been waiting a while for the 3.6 beta to be released. Won't there be a public beta?

I think those who are so anxiously awaiting a public beta, release candidate or other build for public consumption, testing and review are the very people who are ripe for a little training.

It would behoove you to learn just how to pull the current eZ publish development trunk source code via: http://pubsvn.ez.no/

The developer section is also full of great eZ publish svn information : http://ez.no/community/developer/

I have to tell you, It's easy to download the latest eZ publish possible via svn.
http://ez.no/ez_publish/documentation/incoming/the_community_server/help/svn

I wouldn't run a production site in production using the eZ publish trunk, but ... for general testing and checking out all the cool new features, you can't beat getting the code from from the source :) you can get it at any time and it's cool factor is unmatched.

<i>tip:</i> use svn export, instead of checkout, it reduces the size of the download from (what?) 200mb+ to 30mb (est).

svn export http://pubsvn.ez.no/nextgen/trunk/ trunk

I swear, I was just stumbling around again and I found something topical and interesting ...

changelog-3.6.0alpha1

So when 3.6 comes hot off the grill the remark of the hour from everyone will be "awesome, so...(you know,) what's the difference?

With changes to just about every core section you can think of 3.6 looks like it will ship with the promised focus on tightening up the ship (not the previously alluded release but the software as a product)...yeah.

With lots of reading being checked in under the following: new design/menu templates, kernel, shop, webdav, setup, price, xmltext, ez debug, eZ information collection, scripts, pdf gets long awaited gif support and a whole slew of bug fixes across the entire map.

With developer contributions submitted and included in 3.6 from such names in the community as Paul Borgemans, Paul Forsyth, Jo Henrik, Xavier, Eirik Johansen and Bruce Morrison.

take a look at changelog-3.6.0alpha1
http://pubsvn.ez.no/websvn/filedetails.php?repname=nextgen&path=%2Ftrunk%2Fdoc%2Fchangelogs%2F3.6%2Funstable%2FCHANGELOG-3.5.0-to-3.6.0alpha1&rev=0&sc=1

.. or dig deep and read the latest log entries themselves into the trunk, a fun way to really see who's working on what + in combination with the latest bug databases

<i>I saw it first!</i>

Then I saw ez.no turn the link into text <grrrr>, so I'm posting it here today for everyone to read (and it is great reading material!)

<b>Upgrading 3.5 to 3.6.0 (b1)</b>
http://ez.no/ez_publish/download/changelogs/ez_publish_3_6/upgrading

The changelog wasn't affected by the above negative feature ... still it is good reading:
