Hello

Do anybody of you guys now both CMS systems? What are the pros and cons in terms of ease of use, speed, available modules etc. What are your thoughts in general.

Your input is very much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I'd never heard of Mambo before you mentioned it but I've had a quick look.

As per usual with cms's the general philosphy is:

If you want something quick and easy go with product xxx. (in this case mambo)
*But*, if you want something that is incredibly flexible and extensible (yet takes a little longer to learn) go with ezPublish.

ezPublish is *the* most flexible cms I have ever seen.

Regards,
Willie

Hi Marco,

There is a lot of nice things I can say about Mambo. Easy to install, nice design, user-friendly,++.

BUT!

The lack of version control of content, terrible template implementation, predefined content types, and no multi language support, makes this a CMS solution without a future for serious sites.

eZ Publish is the far best php-based CMS-solution I've used. The Midgard Project ( http://www.midgard-project.org ) should also be of interests for those of you controlling your own server.

I've briefly evaluated mambo for one of my projects and come across one major showstopper: mambo has very weak support for categories/sub-sections

on the other hand ezpublish is very flexible in this case. so if you need a lot of categories, subcategories many levels deep, ezpublish is a way to go.
