Hi everybody !

I would like to know if it's possible to sell ezpublish including changes to fit in client specifications ? Of course, the source code will be given...

If you give them the source code and obey the GPL clauses (which essentially means to give them all freedom you have), I don't think you need a licence. But checking with eZ would be the right thing to do.

That was the aim of my question. Thank you to have answered it. I will see directly with ez...

[edit] I just have received confirmation, and you were right. Ez Publich is free, according to the GPL rules.

Hi Mathieu,

To be very clear: you can take GPL-licensed eZ publish, customize it and sell it (and your modifications).

As you mention, the source should be included - and all of the work (eZ publish and your source) must be licensed under the GPL.

This allows the recipient to redistribute the entire software under the GPL, if they so choose.

Hi,
This is an interesting question we've wondered about.

I understand one must give source code to the client, incluiding changes.

BUT, is it mandatory to share this source code with the WORLD (ie. ez publish community or sourceforge?).

My question arises because sometimes the modifications relate to a specific business and might include confidential information the client does not want to share.

Regards,
Felipe

From my understanding (but I'm not a lawyer), you don't have to share it with the world. However, you can't deny the recipient of the changed code to do so if he likes as he gets it under exactly the same terms as you do.
