I run eZ localy on windows for the purpose of learning and debuging.
The problem is that eZ is very slow,
I know many threads in this forum talks about this problem and there maybe many ways to get around it, but none of these threads has a plain way or procedure.
What I need, and guess many others need, is a step by step document to be accomopanied with the installation and poblished with the documents to guide newcommers how to solve this problem,
One more thing, in one of the threads I read about this subject talks about using optimizer like turck mmcache.
Can anybody tells me if this optimizer can affect the speed of eZ localy, or it just affect online????? Please, all contributions and comments are very appreciated

What are your system specs?
I used to run a ez publish 3.3 test system on a windows xp/2.8 GHz laptop, it worked without problems.

Thanks for reply I use XP with a cpu of 1200 MH Are you going to say, that I need a better CPU to run eZ finely? all other scripts works fine on it!!!

You need a lot of RAM (at the very least 512), that's for sure.

You could try to run EZ on Knoppix and save the data on a USB memory stick!

KNOPPIX is a bootable CD with a collection of GNU/Linux software, automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards, sound cards, SCSI and USB devices and other peripherals.
KNOPPIX can be used as a Linux demo, educational CD, rescue system, or adapted and used as a platform for commercial software product demos.
It is not necessary to install anything on a hard disk.
Due to on-the-fly decompression, the CD can have up to 2 GB of executable software installed on it.

Apache /Ez publish runs faster on linux.
You could try to make a custom version of knoppix adding Mysql, apache2, imagemagic..................
And then save the data to a portable media.

I looked at the website,
it is worth only about 3 dollars, I can't believe, maybe I went wrong somewhere!!!
But anyhow, I understand that I can, using this CD, run Linux on my PC which has a windows OS, right?? Do you think I need good experience in Linux to be able to run eZ on Linux???!!!

Well Knoppix is a well konwn Linux distribution. And it's possible to run EZ publish on it.
You might also try using LAMPPIX( modified version of Knoppix that includes Apache, MySQL, PostgreSQL, PHP and Perl) http://lamppix.tinowagner.com/
But if you have very limited knowledge of linux you might consider dropping this plan.

We actually have a Mandrakelinux LiveCD running eZ publish right from the CD already. This is much the same as Knoppix, just that it runs Mandrakelinux 10.1 instead. This CD is handed out when we are at conferences and have seminars. --bård

Well I have not tried LAMPPIX myself, but setting up apache2, Mysql is not very hard.
I can image that the only thing you have to do is to follow this guide

Bard I hope this to be very soon!!!
out of this thread, I get the folloing measures which can affect the speed of eZ:
1- good deal of RAM (512+ MB)
2- fast CPU ( don't know if 1.2 or 1.5 gh is considered a fast CPU)
3- running eZ on Linux environment.
if you agree with me, I will add this 4 and 5, which I read in some threads in this forum
4- using turck mmcache accelirator.
5- installing ez directly on the root directory which make pathes shorter.

The download server (pubsvn.ez.no) has been hacked and taken offline by the maintainer (and my colleague) Paul B. So the download link won't work until the server is back online. Sorry.
