Hi How can i find a hosting service in Australia? I did a number of searches, but had a difficulty. I have a client in Australia and would like to use eZ publish to develop their website. Regards, Martin

If I were you, Martin, I'd look for a PHP/Unix based host that could give you some sort of shell access. My experience with several Norwegian hosts is that even though they don't advertise "ez support" on their web pages, ez publish would run on their servers (and they'd be quite happy to help you set up cronjobs and the likes). If you're looking for installation support, I'm sure the eZ team or their excellent partners would be happy to provide assistance.

Thanks for your quick suggestion. I suppose I could just ask them about it and provide a link to eZ publish installation guides. By the way, can i develop a commercial site with the open source eZ Publish? I suppose you only have to pay if you want to modify and/or re-sale the eZ publish framework. But if I am just building a site using the system then i don't have to pay? Martin.

You only pay for the services you need - support, etc. I've delivered several eZ sites, and haven't paid .. and even though there are paragliders among the developers, I don't expect the eZ team members to come diving down from the sky to arrest me any time soon :) It's free, Martin. Trust me! I should add that you need to follow the GPL license if you'd like to deliver eZ solutions without buying the Pro edition.

Basically, you must adhere to the GPL, which means (I'm not a lawyer, but this the commonly accepted interpretation of the legalese int here) that you can do whatever you want with it inhouse. If you start selling the code, that's fine but you must provide the source upon request and the code will stay under the GPL, so your customers can do exactly the same with it as you can. If you don't like the latter, then, as I understand, you should contact ez and get the professional licence.
