ezPublish as Document Management System

hi there,

I got two questions regarding ezpublish 3.6.1 which will help me to use the software as Document Managment System.

1. Managing Disk Space/Quota.

Can Quota system be set on the software. For e.g. the member A can only be allowed to use 20MB space and another member can only be allowed to use 10MB, something like that.

2. Integration of Antivirus.

Would it be possible to integrate Antivirus into ezpublish, so the documents get scanned before and after uploading/downloading.

Smith.

Hi

1.I'm not sure, but I don't thing it's any possibility for quota in eZ publish. It would be nice if somebody else could confirm this:

2.Yes it exist antivirus of eZ publish. Björn Dieding in Xrow have made a ClamAV integration that can be found here:

ezCrew - Any thoughts????

Hi there,

>>>1.I'm not sure, but I don't thing it's any possibility for quota in eZ publish. It would be nice if somebody else could confirm this:
http://ez.no/community/forum/inst...resources/re_limiting_data_resources

So this means it is not possible to limit the users on the intranet for how much disk space they can use. If anybody else knows this, please confirm.

>>>2.Yes it exist antivirus of eZ publish. Björn Dieding in Xrow have made a ClamAV integration that can be found here:
http://ez.no/community/contribs/a...cations/antivirus_clamav_integration

Thanks I know that extension, but is that extension applicable to both uploading/downloading?

Hi my antivirus stuff currently just applies for download, but it not hard to implement this for upload too.

Towards the quota: everything is possible... not in there yet, but that's why we code everyday...

John,

Just an un-tested idea...(this assumes that users are uploading docs outside of the admin interface):

1. Add 2 fields to the user class: max_storage, current_storage. Set a max_storage for each user based on a default and any other business rules that may inform that number.

2. Each time a user uploads a doc, add that file size to the current_storage attribute of that user.

3. Step 2 implies that before presenting a user with an upload form, check to see if current_storage is less than max_storage. If so, present the form; otherwise alert the user of their maximum usage.

4. If a user goes a bit over, that's probably ok.

I don't know how to check the filesize of a doc when uploading (but I'm sure someone does), but I know it's easy to query the filesize of a doc in the system.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi Luke,

Thanks for your kind feedback. What I am trying to achieve is to restrict the users with the quota system.

With the help of New Custom Edit Handler, newly registered users should have their own folders in the content structure. Here I want to apply quota system to each of the personal folders.

In the folder, once logged in, they can create sub folders, articles, upload files, images etc. but want to restrict them when they exceed their quota.

Hope someone can help me to achieve this.

Well, you can fetch all the files updated, sum the size and based on that decide if they are above quota.

If it takes too long (doubt so, but never dug ezfile attribute enough to know how quick it is), you can write a custom template function, or cronjob it.

Hi Xavier,

Thanks for your help.

>>>Well, you can fetch all the files updated, sum the size and based on that decide if they are above quota.

I think that can be done in the same extension which I am using for creating a personal folder.
Am I right?

I can't understand this bit. Would it be possible for you to explain me this point bit more in details.

Cheers

Hi all

We have seen Björn antivirus stuff for download, it implements an ezbinaryhandler. We need something like this to check the upload of MS Word files.

After researching ezbinaryhandler it seems not ready to support upload (at least in version 3.8.6 ) , on the other hand, We think it is possible to use eZContentUploadHandler to do the job

My question is, which approach do you recomend to implement Björn antivirus stuff for uploads of MS Word Files ?
