I have been reviewing the ezpublish documentation online prior to making my final decision to move forward with ez-publish.

Requirements for section:
<b>1. members only download section</b>
- members can sign up for a login and id
- login and pass emailed to member
- member verifies login (verification function optional)
- member given access to downloads section

<b>2. members profile update section</b>
- members are registered by the site admin
- login and id emailed to member
- member verifies login (verification function optional)
- member has access to create own profile based on profile requirements fields (include image upload and text fields)
- member can update own profile at any time
- profile is displayed on a member page either viewable by all visitors or members only(permissions can be changed by admin at any time)
- profiles are searchable and categorizable (optional)

I understand that this may not be possible without some customization, if anyone has had experience with this type of settings for ezpublish, it would be great to get some feedback.

Thanks in advance

If the member account is created by an admin, the verification is not required (not sure if it is even possible out of the box). Some of the features relating the profile management (searching, viewing) will require configuration, and possibly customization. For instance, you would need to allow members to see objects in the User section, or move the Users to the Content section, or add a location in the Content section (can be done via an automated workflow). Everything else looks like it is easy/default.

Thank you for the great feedback, I found some of your other feedback on this forum very useful. I have a few followup points, hopefully you would be able to help.

For the members only download section, the users would be able to register themselves as opposed to admin creating them. Are there any tutorials or modules available that would make for easier customization? I have had a brief look at the developer documentation however haven't been all that successful at finding specific content related to this feature.

For the profile management section, I guess the same would apply.

It seems relatively easy to add a new user and give them a role to edit a certain page. Each new user that would be registered would be able to edit their unique page. These profiles would be viewable by all users, is probably the easiest setting.

Thanks again

The default installation with the eZ Webin extension (select it during install wizard) includes a section called "Restricted". Look in the admin interface under Setup > Sections. You can apply this to the "members only download" area and it will be invisible until a user logs in. By default, users who register on the site using the default registration function will be added to the group that has access to this section.

This is a great general tutorial that provides some info on the setup. http://ez.no/developer/articles/how_to_configure_an_ez_publish_site

Once a user is registered, the default ezwebin templates provide a login link that, once a user is logged in, changes to say something like Logout (Jozsef Wittek) and next to that will be a button that says My Profile. This will allow each user to edit their own profile.

The user class is a regular content object in ez publish, which means you can change the structure of it and add fields as needed (Setup > Classes > User). Once you do, the My Profile page (as well as the user registration page) will automatically show the new attributes.

Hope that helps!

Jozsef, most of what you want is out-of-the-box.

Hi, Mark Marsiglio,
You said:

I would like to know how to set up the automated workflow for this. This can add another location to an user class object in the content structure tree?
