eZ Publish on Wikipedia - notability

eZ Publish reference on wikipedia is in danger of being merged, redirected or deleted.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EZ_Publish

I was currently doing some research on different CMS systems and had a look at Wikipedia for references and what people write. Of course, Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress has heaps of info, but eZ Publish is always quite backwaterish.

While this might be ad-hoc, one of the problems I face and probably the rest of you, is that eZ has a lot less notability and presence compared the the other free OS CMSs out there.

Anyone has experience on how to raise notability on Wikipedia?

Hi Morten,

I just checked the page and clicked this link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability. It seems there are good tips and tricks to raise an article's notability. The "General notability guideline" paragraph is particularly relevant in this regard.

How about triggering a community initiative to revamp this page ? Would you be in ?

Cheers,

I am in of course. I was reading the same guidelines and churning my head as to what can be done.

I guess more references to real use cases is one thing, but probably more information about the system as well.

Some templates on a good wiki article can be:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drupal
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joomla
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wordpress

Will give it a go asap on writing some content.

I have just edited the article and added the 3 available books about eZ Publish with correct formatting. It might help a bit.

There are several parts that would really deserve editing. Features list, criticism, etc. I'm sure we can find some honest criticism of eZ Publish here ;)

The main goal is imho to gather external sources & references (articles not published by eZ Systems, benchmarks, tutorials...). Let's take the challenge over !

Here's a list of ideas. Feel free to take over the ones you like, as I won't be able to work on that today or tomorrow:

  • eZ publish features list. Use a bullet-list based one. Link to articles, documentation if possible
  • Multilanguage handling. This is one of eZ Publish's best asset (imho), and I think it would deserve to be mentionned in a distinct (sub-)chapter
  • Search engine. Our solr integration is one of the best around, and it really is widely appreciated
  • Tools used to develop eZ Publish: unit testing, continuous integration, source control... that's a bit more for us, eZ crew, but well, I can use my own post to note my own work ;)

If you start working on something, please try to mention it here, so that people can assist in providing materials or ideas, and avoid work collisions ;)

I added some examples after the Drupal model. They can be changed of course.

Will add some references to those as well. I know some has articles describing why eZ is chosen.
Just have to validate if this list is up2date.

Another part which eZ can brag about is the NSA validation for security. But it is a bit out of date, or?

That was the one yes. Would definitely be a good reference under security. Just saw that every other cms article had it.

But I guess criticism is equally important as an objective view. Of course eZ doesn't have any flaws, does it?

Morten,

don't worry, eZ Publish has enough flaws, that is not gonna be an issue :-)
