Two days ago we only saw 4.1 beta 1. Today we have 4.1 stable. So what's this RC version:

As far as I can see from the svn logs, the RC tag under /versions in svn was made yesterday as well. They must have been in a real hurry to get 4.1.0 final to be released at the same day as a first RC which was not announced to the community so most likely only tested internally or by a few chosen ones. Good development process? Communication? Full compatibility with PostgreSQL?

> Good development process?
Not perfect, there will definitely be some tweaks to it for the next round of versions.
But first time time based development is used here at eZ, and we might not do it like this at all in the future.

>Communication?

None, we have focused on getting 4.1 done as promised, and you can turn it anyway you want kc.

>Full compatibility with PostgreSQL?

Not before 4.1.1 I'm afraid, not many postgres testers internally as of 01.03.09, I'll convert to be one myself as soon as I have time to change my dev setup.

Why complain?

For the first time in a long while eZ releases on time. And that is bad?

If one desires a perfect release, one will never have one. There will always be issues. There will always be enhancements that should be implemented.

eZ delivers, and that is great news. Sure, some things could improve. But this is not the day to criticize, this a day of joy.

That being said, tomorrow is a new day and putting pressure on eZ to keep up the pace is in place.

We decided to make internal RC release for testing propose. And yes we were in hurry working hard in order to deliver at time. You can complain about the development process, especially from outside without overview about that is happening inside. Like one sentence says "If you want to hit the dog, a stick always finds". I'm full of respect to all of my colleagues who worked last month 12 h a day, and last weeks even more in oder to deliver. We did our best. After 4.1 release we are going to adopt some development process improvement and I'm fully of believe that it will be better in future.

We all know what it is to deliver a development on time, and I have no doubt about the huge work the EZ development team did to achieve this.

Congratulations for meeting the deadline.

Kristof, I'm not a chosen one and yet found it ;)
But obviously it seems like an official RC has simply been skipped.

But I also like the new promise-delivery system much more. I just hope that this would also be reflected in greater pace of adopting all the work, bug reports and enhancement requests at issues.ez.no ;)

Good luck to all of us ;)
Cheers,
Piotrek

Hi all,

Congratulations to have met the goal in time and to have finally launched an new version !

And a special kudo to the marketing guy at ez that wrote "designed to power web properties working with rich and various content assets. Historically known as a flexible content management framework, eZ Publish enables web centric organizations to scale and to grow their online businesses..."

It reminded me the good old days of the first dot com bubble and the PR stuffed with buzzwords and void of any information ;)

You made me smile and it brightened my day, thanks for that too.
