Since eZPublish uses an extremely insecure protocol for authentication (it sends passwords in cleartext), I am interested in authenticating in eZPublish using an authentication method that is outside of eZPublish. This would probably mean hacking eZPublish to use this external source instead of using the method it uses now. Does anyone have any experience with doing this, or any recommendations about appropriate authentication methods? For example, would the Apache mod_auth_db module would work well for this? And does eZPublish itself support using external authentication or would some hacking be required?
